The Truth About What's in My Bag? | Quad Cities Wedding and Family Photographer

I thought this would be a fun post to show you guys that I really am as low maintenance as my About Me says I am! So, here goes!

From left to right you see the following:

Canon 1D X camera body wearing a Sigma 35mm 1.4 lens and adorned with a camera strap made by Gabriella Coopmans. This is what I will show up with to photograph a family, newborn or headshot session. It's also my go-to for weddings. In fact, I never take this lens off (except to clean it). I love the depth and clarity it gives me and love being able to be close to my subjects for detailed work. Having the Sigma 35mm lens has totally changed the way I shoot and my style has developed quite a bit since I got this about two years ago!

Next to that hunka love you see the Canon 5D Mark II (also adorned with Gabriella Coopmans camera strap) a Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT and the Tamron 24-70 2.8 lens. I take these three with me to every wedding or major event I shoot. I use the Tamron mostly for first dance types of shots!

Okay. Let's talk about that Speedlite, shall we? How many times have you heard me say I am a natural light photographer? Like, lots, right? Well a question my wedding clients always have is- what if it rains and we have to move inside, can you still shoot? Or- we really want a first dance shot, but it will be dark in the reception hall by that time, can you shoot it? The answer is a resounding YES thanks to this little baby. I have it as a matter of necessity! For those instances when I have no choice but to have some kind of 'other' light. As a professional, I have to have contingency plans, and that is when my amazing little Speedlite comes out to play!

Anyway, that's what you'll see in my bag! I really am that low maintenance! I really do believe in the power of the sun combined with a good eye and some high quality glass!
